When I was in the 8th grade my favourite ensemble was one that I called “Sunshine.”
It consisted of golden-rod stirrup pants, a golden-rod turtleneck, golden-rod socks and (much to the chagrin of the 13-year old Matchy McMatherson me) black suede loafers.
Judging from this piece in the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2012 line, it is clear that I was a visionary.
I only like birds when they are embroidered on ties.
I am pretty sure that this three-piece pin-striped dusty-rose coloured suit with it’s pearly watch-fob is a sign that my higher power wants me to be happy.
Either that, or it’s a sign that Sarah Burton is my higher power.

There are a lot of things to love in Frankie Morello’s Spring/Summer 2012 Collection.
This loving homage to the Creamsicle is a standout for me.
The lining of the sports coat - yes.
The slim collar on the shirt - yes.
The contrasting thin blue tie - yes.
The reflecting buttons on the waistcoat - (five times) yes.
The flip-flops - uhm… maybe?
Maybe the Creamsicle isn’t for you and you’re more of a Sno-balls fan.
I cannot blame you. My partner is quite taken with them and there has been a great deal of sadness in our house since the recent announcement of Hostess’ bankruptcy.
Maybe this fetching number will make her feel better.
I do love a sport coat that reminds me of food.
The shoes on this look work much better for me. And I love, the piping. The Matchy-McMatcherson in me would want my shoes match the piping or the fuschia in the shirt but I am so thankful these are not those sandals that I’m going to let it go.
Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year. Style is what you pick out of that fashion. It’s what you make of it once you’ve learned what to accept and what to ignore based on what suits you.

Wunder, in der tat.
At first glance, I thought this was a stylish homage to the 4th of July and I was all set to make a “fireworks” pun.
On closer inspection I see that the checks are red, black and white and that it’s a stylish homage to awesomeness in unlined wool.
The blazer features working button cuffs and while I am charmed by how they match the white trim, I am not sure that I wouldn’t swap the white buttons out for something with a bit more pop.
And with Japanese sizing it’s a sure fit for Ms. Dandies and our very slim Mr. Dandy friends.
Fireworks, indeed.
